What Did We Learn?
It’s been a long year since starting the Pandemic Accountability Index, and SARS-CoV-2 is still in the air infecting people and causing all sorts of serious, long-term health complications, including around 1,500 deaths weekly in America alone. We’ve come a long way, picking up thousands of subscribers across Substack & Twitter. As another nasty winter of pestilence rears its head, it’s worth looking back and reflecting on what we’ve managed to learn.
Understanding The Many Harms of COVID-19
We compiled countless studies on the serious harms the disease COVID-19 can cause to the human body, across two volumes - one in November 2022 and another in July 2023. This includes everything from brain damage to erectile dysfunction. There are two major takeaways since publishing these compilations:
Scientific Research is Only Useful if it’s Actually Read
The mountains and mountains of quality scientific research compiled by the Pandemic Accountability Index has not been a wakeup call to policy makers, who have instead shrugged as children and families are repeatedly infected with a virus causing a disease that harms every organ in the body. The public’s health will now be gravely weaker and far more susceptible to real-world harms including future pandemics, natural disasters, and other health issues. The cognitive and neurological impairment as well as chronic fatigue linked to SARS-CoV-2 will have disastrous effects on national economies, crippling innovation and scientific development.
Unfortunately, these “courageous accept exposure behavior change strategies” as pitched by a former Exxon Medical Director as part of the “COVID Collaborative” will only weaken America’s place in the world as a functioning nation.
No Mountain of Scientific Fact is Enough to Force Viral Zealots to Admit They’ve Gotten It All Wrong
There was little backlash to the What SARS-CoV-2 Does to the Body series, except for one tweet by “Guy Gadboit,” who declared:
“This is a great example of how the number of studies about something is not the same thing as the weight of evidence in its favour. Covid is basically just a cold/flu. I haven’t read all of these studies"…”
How incredulous, the desire of a fictious belief being true outweighs scientific fact & quality research? By what rules? Dozens and dozens of studies from researchers around the world that Gadboit “hasn’t read” are simply garbage, because he insists it’s “basically just a cold/flu.” The entire belief system of these pro-viral cranks rests on their overwhelming desire of a fictitious belief being true, even when mountains of evidence they haven’t bothered to read clearly dispel that delusion.
Facts don’t stop being facts simply because you’ve chosen to stop accepting reality for your own emotional comfort.
This sentiment was “liked” by previous PAI profile subject, UK government advisor, University College of London professor, and drunkard Francois Balloux. A UK government advisor shrugging off mountains of scientific research he won’t read because he drunkenly insists that COVID just has to be the “cold/flu.” Of course, fellow academics like University of California’s Vinay Prasad and Koch/Thiel/Zuck owned Brown University economist Emily Oster also insist that all of this research is bad, because they’re too egotistical to admit that they’ve been horribly wrong. They’re stuck performing for their anti-vax, pro-viral audience of easily misled cranks.
Pestilence sycophants have no place in academia, science, or the public sphere.
The Viral Soup Drowning Children in Pestilence
As we highlighted in Into The Breach - COVID Ep. 04, 2023 would be recognized as the “Year of the Rising Viral Tide,” predicted by evolutionary biologist T. Ryan Gregory. He ended up tragically being right - we’re not testing, everyone’s sick all the time, with more and more people developing serious health complications, including even a wave of serious Erectile Dysfunction, caused by COVID-19 induced vascular damage. You should consider this an opportunity to watch the 2007 instant classic Children of Men starring Clive Owen, about a dystopian Britain in a collapsing world…caused by a global infertility crisis that emerges in the wake of a “flu” pandemic. As we repeatedly infect our children, we may be setting them up for a future where this becomes a harsh reality at worst, and severely reduced birthrates as a potential scenario.
What was more important, unfortunately, was that the adults responsible for these children’s futures got to return to brunch and “normalcy;” of overconsumption, environmental exploitation, and abandoning responsibility to future generations. As children are repeatedly infected in public schools year-after-year under the doctrine of InfinityCOVID, more & more kids will develop serious health complications and crippling disabilities, left without answers or treatments.
With zero accountability for those who crusaded to drive the virus into their blood and every organ of their young bodies.
Academia & Scientific Publishing Faces a Serious Crisis of Legitimacy & Corruption
Early in 2023, a trio of scientifically illiterate cranks named Tom Jefferson, Carl Heneghan, and John Conly published a rather embarrassing “meta-analysis” on PPE effectiveness in Cochrane. The most important fact you should know is this: none of the authors admit the scientific reality that SARS-CoV-2 is an airborne virus, insisting that droplets are the primary mode of transmission, even in 2023. Right-wing propagandists such as previous PAI profile subject Justin Hart, and University of California San Francisco’s Vinay Prasad, championed this paper. When the editor in chief, Dr. Karla Saores-Weister, rebuked Jefferson & the other authors claims that this paper “debunked” PPE for COVID-19, Vinay Prasad went into a misogynistic rant telling her to “STFU” and that she should be fired.
The equivalent of trusting droplet-dogma cranks screeching “Evidence Based Medicine” with reviewing PPE effectiveness for an airborne virus is like enlisting a flat-earther aerospace engineer to design a rocket to get you to the Moon and back.
This paper has not been retracted, even after it’s been debunked many, many times over by qualified experts in the field of PPE engineering - as an N95 respirator is not “medicine,” but in fact a device that is researched, developed, and manufactured by engineers. Unfortunately, many more terrible minimizing & anti-vax studies, or even opinion editorials masquerading as “studies,” are being boosted with Vinay Prasad’s name attached & boosted by corporate media such as Sky News & NY Post.
Academic institutions like Vinay Prasad’s UCSF and PAI subject Kevin Bass’ Texas Tech University have refused to crack down on these disinformation cranks spreading deadly fictions for personal profit and social media engagement. They have succumbed to cowardice and corruption, betraying not only their students, but also the general public and the moral & ethical obligations to uphold the scientific truth.
A Second Year of Pandemic Accountability
From whence we started in November 2022, one would argue we’re in a much worse place than before - watching a slow-burning blaze of pestilence carve through the population, with potential of a brutal winter ahead of us as a result of poor booster uptake. More and more finding themselves bedridden and unable to work due to LongCOVID disability. A breeding ground for new variants that are subject to random mutations outside of our control. On top of this, the general population is either largely ignorant to this unfolding crisis, or openly spewing nonsense propagated by well-funded unscientific cranks.
American Liberalism has wholly surrendered to the pro-infection crusade against public health, funded by the same conservative billionaires that astroturfed the “Tea Party” movement which led to MAGA and Donald Trump becoming President, as demanded by President Biden and former deli owner turned COVID Czar turned Chief of Staff Jeffrey Zients. Many radical “progressives” and “leftists” have also bitten from this poison apple, embracing a “post-pandemic” of constant infections and developing new health complications.
We are looking at the need for a new political movement centered on restoring public health, eradicating right-wing billionaire influence over science and medicine, and refusing to surrender to pestilence, war, famine, and death - the four horsemen that have collapsed countless societies throughout human history and inspired many ancient fables. To make such dishonesty and profiteering by cranks like Vinay Prasad and Kevin Bass of UCSF & Texas Tech shameful, and worthy of dismissal of their respective institutions, with prejudice.
Every inch you give to unscientific crankery, quickly becomes a mile for right-wing billionaires in an ideological crusade to destroy regulatory authorities’ ability to protect the public from toxic waste, deadly pathogens, and other hazards. If any political ideology seeks to stand against the vision of a techno-feudalist dystopian hellhole in a world of climate collapse and all the chaos that follows, COVID-19 is where we have to start taking back territory.
