A Peek Inside Jay B's "Pandemic Playbook"
The Dark Secret behind "Making America Healthy Again"
In a recent interview, Dr. Anthony Fauci stated the following: “The thought that we don’t have another pandemic, I think, is naive at best and just completely unrealistic at worst. I’m convinced we’ll have another pandemic.”
Looking at climate collapse, the war against agricultural and food safety regulations, as well as the intentional demolition of our federal public health agencies, it’s obvious that Fauci is not unrealistic in this prediction. On October 13th, the Director of the National Institutes of Health retreated to the safe space of his personal Twitter account, “DrJBhattacharya,” (where he has blocked many of the American taxpayers that he now answers to) to respond with the following:
“1. Since we’re human & subject to biology, we’ll have another pandemic. Since we’re rational, we won’t pretend we can prevent and manage the next one with the ideas that likely caused and exacerbated the damage from the last one.”
One question, Jay. When you speak of “we,” just you and what army? Your online petition co-author, Martin Kulldorff, has destroyed the reputation of the CDC’s Advisory Committee for Immunization Protocols - with the nation’s pediatricians calling for the entire ACIP to be replaced and their decisions entirely reversed. Nobody who does actual work at the NIH respects your leadership. Outside of the bubble of your Twitter fan club, the majority of the Americans in the real world know you have zero credibility.
The past week has been quite a chaotic time at the National Institutes of Health. The censorship and purging of scientists have led to headlines such as “Is NIH cutting corners as it rushes to fill leadership positions?” However, you wouldn’t know this by listening to NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, who is strangely missing in action. Now, let’s all sing together, ”Just Where in the World is Jay Bhat-Ta-Char-Ya?” Well, Jay’s had quite the “busy” week jetsetting, podcasting, and hiding from his responsibilities to the American taxpayer!
Safe Spaces for Federal Employees
Bhattacharya will likely not be showing up at work today, Monday the 17th of November, because he spent yesterday telecommuting into a hate rally in London alongside anti-Semites and anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists. He proclaimed:
“The heart of the revolution we’re seeing is the displacement of high scientific authority by reality.”
From a posh hotel room, Podcast Jay (as nicknamed by NIH staffers) also appeared on the podcast “Dad Saves America,” (of which he has been a regular guest) which also features white nationalists like James Lindsay, who once claimed “Teachers unions need to be abolished and the Federal Department of Education shut down.” On the DSA podcast, the government official called to “get government out of healthcare,” attacking “Obamacare,” which was originally designed by the same Heritage Foundation that is aligned with his unscientific fantasies about COVID-19 and his thirst to destroy public health. However, Bhattacharya did not stop there!
Alongside his deputy director Matthew J. Memoli, Bhattacharya did precisely all he has done for the past five years: make posts on the Internet. This time, it was at the online blog City Journal titled: “The World Needs a New Pandemic Playbook.” Before we dig in, it’s worth examining just where the Director of the National Institutes of Health chose to publish this screed. This opinion editorial was also republished in racist tabloid The New York Post with the headline: “Time to trash our pandemic playbook - making people healthy again may be the best medicine.”
City Journal is a propaganda blog ran by the “Manhattan Institute,” which uses its sterile corporate branding (“We’re the place where the brightest minds reside”) to conceal the depravity of its staff and funding from fossil fuel & tobacco corporations. Manhattan Institute is helmed by rabid white nationalist Christopher Rufo, who propagated the racist lie that Haitian immigrants are stealing and eating their neighbors’ dogs. City Journal does not have a good track record for reporting on issues related to COVID-19, with laughable headlines like:
“Masks Still Don’t Work: More than two years on, the best scientific evidence says that masks don’t stop Covid - and public health officials continue to ignore it.”
“The Mask of Ignorance: Recent responses the Cochrane review suggest that there may be no cure for maskaholics.”
“The Mask Comes Off: Determined to defend face coverings, a Scientific American article dismisses scientific “rigor.”"
“The Harm Caused by Masks: A new study suggests that the excess carbon dioxide breathed in by mask-wearers can have major health consequences.”
This “study” is authored by a bunch of anti-vaccine quacks from Germany & even includes a veterinarian. What the frak does a veterinarian know about PPE?
These are all from contributor Jeffrey H. Anderson, President of another think tank, the “American Main Street Initiative.” Jeffrey has zero relevant scientific credentials to comment on PPE, and is not concerned with what actual experts in the field have to say. Believe it or not, but people employed by think tanks are paid to do the precise opposite of critical thinking, and Anderson is merely repackaging narratives he read on Twitter, reinforcing them with the legitimacy of a “think tank.” These are the sort of people Bhattacharya would rather associate with over actual doctors and scientists.
The substance of Jay Bhattacharya’s latest online rant frankly outdoes his previous half-decade of unscientific output, a naked display of arrogant ignorance. It’s long been said that economists have an ego problem, declaring themselves the final arbiters over all scientific fields while lacking any real technical knowledge. This economist proves, without a shadow of a doubt, that he has zero understanding of medicine nor science. Let’s dig in!
An Arsonist Blames the Fire Department
In the opening paragraph of his latest screed, Bhattacharya immediately suggests that the National Institutes of Health are possibly to blame for the COVID-19 pandemic as a result of their decades of preparation for future pandemics. While lab leaks and pandemics have occured throughout history, a lab leak incident has never been the cause of a global pandemic. There is no hard evidence to support this thesis - with it’s believers insisting that a lack of evidence is somehow evidence of a cover-up. Jay is merely abusing his credentials to lend credibility to an irrational myth originally started by the State Department under the first Trump Administration, as part of America’s pitifully flaccid dick-waving at China. Prioritizing political loyalty over scientific rigor, Bhattacharya destroys his own credibility.
As a quick aside, just what is the most likely cause of the COVID-19 pandemic? Well, before the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, just what was happening in the world for the prior four years? Peter Jackson’s 2018 documentary film *They Shall Not Grow Old* restores century-old footage narrated by personal accounts of the living nightmare that was the First World War. Miles upon miles of trenches stretching across Europe contained men from all around the world in extremely unsanitary conditions, essentially pissing and shitting and sleeping atop one another. Corpses were left to rot across “No Man’s Land.” Rats, lice, and other disease-carrying pests were rampant. If one sought to engineer a pandemic, these are the perfect conditions to do so.
When the war concluded, soldiers returned from a manmade hell to their homelands across the world, with many carrying the Spanish Flu. Many young, “metabolically healthy” (keep this in mind for later) people died around the world in rapid fashion, leading to a massive expansion of public health programs - and unscientific resistance such as the “Anti-Mask League,” birthed in the same region as Bhattacharya’s previous employer, Stanford University. Bhattacharya gleefully enjoyed continuing this shameful tradition a century later, doing everything in his power to make the work of licensed & practicing medical doctors harder.
China is a massive landmass home to over a billion people. As with most pandemics, the SARS-CoV-2 originated from the countryside and was brought into the urban center of Wuhan, which like many major cities around the world, has a virology research lab. While “wet markets,” which sell a wide range of animals to eat or adopt as a pet, are strictly regulated in China, local Wuhan authorities neglected to enforce these laws. Mammals from across China, in unsanitary conditions pissing, shitting, and sleeping atop one another, became a perfect breeding ground for viruses.
However, preventing events such as this requires government regulation of the marketplace, something that libertarians like Bhattacharya & his ilk are gravely opposed to. Thus, government-funded scientists must be the culprit! Enough with this detour - If you wish to learn more about this “debate”, pick up a copy of Lab Leak Fever by Philipp Markolin.
To start, Bhattacharya and his crony invent a new acronym, “dGOF,” or “Dangerous Gain of Function Research.” Knowing nothing about virology and having never worked in the field, it’s quite humorous to see the ego on these two inventing new technical terms out of whole cloth, to satiate social media piranhas. Jay then writes,
“The very act of sending scientists into remote places to collect pathogens risks a spillover of a pathogen that might never have occurred otherwise.”
Jay cannot point to an actual example of this. He has never worked in a research laboratory and is completely ignorant about lab safety protocols, suggesting that scientists are as woefully incompetent and ignorant as himself. After completing med school, Jay never bothered to attain a medical license or become a practicing medical doctor, instead going into writing conservative policy as a “health economist:” a fancy term for playing God with other people’s lives from the safety of an Excel spreadsheet. Jay Bhattacharya’s entire professional career has been little more than posting, in one form or another. These years of endless posts do little more than illustrate the vastness of Bhattacharya’s willful ignorance.
Surprising no-one, Bhattacharya’s ramblings only get more unscientific from here.
Germ Theory Denial from the NIH Director
If there was any doubt that Jay Bhattacharya knows absolutely nothing about infectious diseases, viruses, and over a century of advances in modern medicine, Jay puts those doubts to rest with the following:
“From a historical and evolutionary standpoint, the [pandemic] playbook makes little sense and needs to change. The measures developed to counter the threat will never have their efficacy tested in humans before an outbreak occurs. Inevitably, the version of the pathogen that ultimately causes an outbreak will differ significantly from those collected to develop countermeasures.”
Bhattacharya spent 2020 deliberately attacking these “measures” to “counter the threat” from a virus he claims escaped from a lab. He and his ilk, including now-disgraced John Ioannidis, Martin Kulldorff, and Scott Atlas, very much wanted hundreds of millions of unvaccinated Americans to embrace SARS-CoV-2 in 2020:
They knew that non-pharmaceutical interventions worked, and this got in the way of their fantasy of mass infection ending the pandemic in a mere 3-6 months. Bhattacharya would inevitably change his tune in order to align with his newfound anti-vaccine fanbase, which as we all know, is the height of scientific rigor.

For over a century, medical science has made incredible advances in our understanding of infectious diseases and how they are transmitted. Cholera is transmitted via contaminated water and food, HIV/AIDS via bodily fluids, SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted via aerosols, and so on. This is a central tenet of germ theory, of which the overwhelming consensus of doctors and scientists support.
Diseases are not transmitted over the phone, caused by foul smelling air, or other such nonsense. We know full well how the viruses which will cause future outbreaks are transmitted and have over a century of experience developing effective countermeasures to prevent said transmission. For the Director of the National Institutes of Health to feign ignorance about a critical function of NIH research is a disgrace & only goes to show how pathetically incompetent Jay Bhattacharya truly is.
Pandemic Preparedness is a Grift? Jay it Ain’t So!
Bhattacharya proceeds to attack pandemic preparedness measures in their entirety, suggesting that there are nefarious figures working from the shadows to exploit future pandemics and destroy your freedom:
“The stockpiled countermeasures developed under the old pandemic playbook offer a false sense of security and empower those who would impose lockdowns, mandates, and other such strategies.”
Bhattacharya implies that “countermeasures” such as non-pharmaceutical interventions like respirators to prevent the transmission of viruses offer “a false sense of security.” This is disgraceful, as Jay’s original promise that a single bout with COVID-19 conferred lifelong “natural immunity” was a false sense of security that contributed to countless preventable deaths. This egotistical brat lacks zero capacity for self-reflection on his own many failings.
To cover for this, Jay dabbles in conspiratorial thinking, suggesting that there are nefarious figures in the shadows seeking to “impose lockdowns” and “mandates.” Since he is not a licensed medical doctor, Jay spent 2020 in a comfortable University office singing the praises of the virus as it overwhelmed ICUs and morgues, leading to mass graves and driving some doctors to take their own lives. To suggest society could simply ignore this carnage and function normally is perverse.
Bhattacharya only gets worse from here in his personal attacks, stating:
“Furthermore, the playbook creates vested interests with incentives to overreact to new threats.”
Bhattacharya never actually did anything for the past five years except post online. He kept zero Americans out of the ICU, and prevented zero COVID-19 deaths. Jay cannot specify how these “vested interests” have “incentives to overreact,” while he himself has had numerous financial incentives these past five years to spread disinformation on behalf of wealthy interests. This is pure conjecture that infers Bhattacharya’s ideological opponents are just as untrustworthy as himself. The personal attacks continue with:
“It creates a group of well-funded scientists who benefit from scaring the public beyond what the evidence warrants”
Nobody who actually treated COVID-19 patients in 2020 would dare suggest that it was “well-funded scientists” who merely frightened over a million Americans to death. Worse yet, the Director of the National Institutes of Health has frequently dismissed evidence of COVID-19’s harms as “Covidian” for contradicting his narrative. Jay Bhattacharya is a man who clearly struggles to separate his elaborate fantasies from reality and thus is unfit to judge scientific matters:
Again, Bhattacharya makes vague personal attacks against people who actually know what they are talking about:
“These scientists make a living doing research for the traditional pandemic preparedness playbook, an extreme conflict of interest.”
Podcast Jay presumes that the American public are gullible shmucks. It has been far more lucrative for his career to mislead the public about COVID-19 than the scientists who have been demonized, harassed, and threatened by Jay and his fellow propagandists. This is straight from the very first chapter of the fascism “playbook:” Accuse your enemy of the very thing that you yourself are doing.
“The playbook also creates an industry of vaccine and drug manufacturers to whom the government awards vast sums of money to produce the pharmaceutical stockpile that, by design, has never been tested in human populations.”
Jay Bhattacharya likes to masquerade as some sort of champion of the people against Big Pharma. Unable to see beyond his delusional fantasies, his infection-based approach to pandemics does little more than create profit for the pharmaceutical industry as it hospitalizes and disables countless Americans. This is a massive betrayal of the American people and only reveals the depravity of Jay’s character. All in on his ego trip, Bhattacharya boldly proclaims:
“We do not need to find and create new pathogens that could cause future outbreaks. Rather, we must improve our understanding of the pathogens that we know cause disease in humans now, without speculating about hypothetical risks.”
To suggest that we simply put on blinders to looming threats to the public’s health and wait around until the dynamite finally explodes in our faces, with countless American lives are lost in the ensuing chaos is obscenity unbecoming of the NIH Director. Jay Bhattacharya only demonstrates his own willful ignorance of the National Institutes of Health’s mission, compromising the essential work of the countless scientists and doctors there. The goal is to eventually abolish the organization in its entirety, following the typical conservative “playbook.”
Jay Bhattacharya’s moral depravity only grows worse from this point forward.
Pseudoscience as Policy
To attack the foundations of germ theory, one has to hold an “alternative” view. Jay’s boss, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is a “miasmatist,” who believes that disease is caused by foul-smelling air. To close out this absolute embarrassment of an opinion editorial, Bhattacharya comes out in full force of something most Americans have never heard of: “Terrain theory,” which foolishly suggests that the only way to defend against infectious diseases is by maintaining one’s personal health:
“We should learn from recent example: a metabolically healthy population, physically active and eating nutritious food, will cope far better in the face of a novel pathogen than a population facing a severe chronic-disease crisis.”
The NIH Director is clearly uninterested in achieving this goal, wasting precious time by appearing on podcasts and speaking at hate rallies across the Atlantic ocean. This is critical time that could have been used to lobby Congress to not overturn food safety regulations, or expand SNAP/EBT coverage, or any number of progressive policy solutions that would actually improve Americans’ health. Worse yet, Bhattacharya’s lobbying on behalf of SARS-CoV-2 has caused a new chronic disease crisis, with post-acute COVID-19 becoming the leading chronic illness in children. Bhattacharya stayed silent as the Office of Long COVID Research and Practice was shuttered. So just what is this “recent example” that we must all follow?
“Sweden, without lockdown or school closures, was the best in the world at protecting human life during the Covid pandemic.”
This is an obscene myth, as we have previously explained in excruciating detail. Schools shut down regularly as a result of unmitigated COVID-19 outbreaks, for example. The “evidence” Jay Bhattacharya cites to support this claim comes from Benjamin “USMortality” Marten, a depraved anti-vaccine Twitter troll with zero scientific credentials who propagates all sorts of obscene conspiracy theories, such as claiming that PCR testing for COVID-19 is entirely fraudulent. The Director of what was once the world’s leading hub for medical & scientific research is now citing abrasive Twitter trolls as “evidence.” Citing fraudulent sources seems to be a requirement of the “MAHA” Agenda:
It’s worth noting that the NIH Director’s safe space, the Twitter account “DrJBhattacharya,” follows all sorts of these abusive trolls like Toby Rogers, a fanboy of Andrew Wakefield who has tweeted incessantly for the past five years that “The era of vaccines is over.”
What an insult to the hardworking staff of the NIH, the frontline doctors and nurses who have actually treated COVID-19 patients in overcrowded ICUs, and the graves of the children who died of vaccine-preventable causes. Even worse, Jay’s “evidence” doesn’t even support his claims about Sweden and intentionally omits data from other nations which contradict the Swedeaboo myth. Jay doubles down on his lie:
“Sweden succeeded in part because its people are relatively metabolically healthy.”
For starters, when foolishly comparing a rather homogenous Nordic country with 30 million against a vastly more diverse nation with 330+ million people, Sweden has a universal healthcare system, which provides for preventative care unlike America’s for-profit health denial system. Mr. “Get Government Out of Healthcare” is explicitly against this. According to Jay Bhattacharya, Jay Bhattacharya does not want to protect American lives from the threat of pandemics. This inevitably leads to the following endorsement of the long-debunked terrain theory:
“Ultimately, public health agencies encouraging people to take whatever steps they can to improve their health will have a dramatic effect during the next pandemic.”
Let us read between the lines of what Jay is actually saying here: Should another infectious disease pandemic such as H5N1 emerge under the tenure of Jay Bhattacharya and his “colleagues” in pestilence, merely “encouraging” people to be “metabolically healthy” is sufficient to navigate the chaos of future pandemics. In other words, those who will die are at fault for not subscribing to the tenets of “Make America Healthy Again.” No, really.
Jay Bhattacharya closes out his manifesto with:
“The best pandemic preparedness playbook for the United States is making America healthy again.”
Notice how Jay cannot identify this forgotten age when America was “healthy. Let’s review: Just what is Jay Bhattacharya’s proposed “Pandemic Playbook?”
Abandon all surveillance of looming pandemic threats.
Maintain no stockpile of countermeasures to combat future pandemics.
Feign ignorance of how infectious diseases spread.
Let new viruses burn through unvaccinated populations as rapidly as possible.
Paint doctors, scientists, and public health officials as nefarious conspirators.
“Encourage” the public to be “metabolically healthy” before another pandemic strikes and absolve oneself of all responsibility for bad outcomes.

This is all pretty swell if you’re completely unqualified to serve as Director of the NIH, and have no intention of actually earning the paycheck bankrolled by the American taxpayer. Appearing on white nationalist podcasts, speaking at hate rallies, and penning useless opinion editorials while on the government’s payroll is a pretty easy grift. Just like the Great Barrington Declaration, Bhattacharya’s proclamations cannot fail, they can only be failed - all while Jay’s buddies in the federal government are doing everything in their power to compromise the public’s health.
The one thing Jay Bhattacharya does manage to accomplish in this online rant is inadvertently admit what “Make America Healthy Again” is actually about.
The Dark Secret of “Make America Healthy Again”
Way back in 1916, American cultural anthropologist Madison Grant publishes The Passing of the Great Race. He proposes that the best “hope for humanity” is the “elimination of those who are weak or unfit,” to “get rid of the undesirables who crowd our jails, hospitals, and insane asylums,” and that the “unemployable human residuum” be “eliminated.” Grant then proclaims the infectious diseases which have killed millions throughout history to be “the great empire builders of yesterday.” This work would inspire a relatively unknown 20th century Western European politician that most Americans have never heard of who went by the name of...uh, let me check my notes here...Adolf Hitler?!
Medical quackery and grift were a central pillar of the Third Reich, with Hitler’s personal physician, Theo Morrell, becoming a multi-millionaire while juicing the Fuhrer to the gills with various drugs and ridiculous concoctions, including “extract of cardiac muscle, adrenal cortex, and the liver and pancreas of pigs and other farm animals,” according to Norman Ohler’s Blitzed: Drugs in Nazi Germany. Much of the “Master Race” was regularly abusing meth and cocaine, which is apparent when looking at their master plan to turn the war around after the humiliation suffered at D-Day: Strap a bunch of Hitler Youth kids into tiny 2-man midget submarines, pump them full of enough drugs so they can’t sleep for four days, and swarm the Allied navy. 70 died drowning in their own filth in the process of managing to blow up all of 8 unarmed cargo ships, forced to defecate in empty ration tins.
The parallels between the failures of the Third Reich and “Make America Healthy Again” couldn’t be more obvious: The President is elderly, overweight, and his mental & physical health are clearly in rapid decline. According to The New York Times the Health and Human Services Secretary, a former heroin addict, is likely still abusing illicit substances. The Secretary of Defense is a raging alcoholic. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Administrator is a daytime television scam artist who personally profits from the FDA recommending a quack treatment for autism and will profit from the privatization of Medicare. None of these cranks are a reliable judge of what is “healthy” or how to “Make America Healthy,” nor can they point to a specific moment in the past when America was truly “healthy.”
While Jay stays silent as his colleagues do everything in their power to sabotage the health of American families, it’s clear that he was never committed to making Americans “healthy.” All that’s left is realizing Madison Grant’s vision of “elimination.” The Director of the National Institute of Health is indirectly declaring that future pandemics are a path to “Make America Healthy” by eliminating the “weak or unfit, allowing future pandemic viruses to burn through society and “eliminate” those who are not “metabolically healthy.” Those who died of COVID-19, and those who will die in future pandemics are not worth protecting.
