Soon after our most recent article, "A Eulogy for Vinay Prasad's FDA Career," it came to light that Donald Trump overruled RFK Jr. and Marty Makary to personally fire Prasad from the three senior roles he held simultaneously, including Chief Medical Officer and Chief Science Officer, at the Food & Drug Administration. This is quite hilarious, yet now I fear there's an ongoing attempt to obscure this fact in what is quickly becoming an elaborate, multi-tiered conspiracy theory.
When Vinay Prasad re-emerges, as someone who is obsessed with hearing the sound of his own voice, he will likely try to obscure his history of praise and admiration for Trump. This included the construction of his own elaborate conspiracy theories. Here's a condensed record of the specific instances he pledged his loyalty to Trump, largely taken from his Twitter account “VPrasadMDMPH:”
August 27th, 2022: Vinay Prasad demanded that the American Academy of Pediatrics be "dismantled," alleging that they shifted their COVID-19 guidance to sabotage Trump's re-election in 2020. Prasad provided no evidence to uphold this conspiracy theory, as this is a completely absurd claim to make.
October 30th, 2024: Sucking up to Trump Transition Co-Chair Howard Lutnick, he claimed "vaccines are just like drugs...COVID boosters are harmful to young men, and people who recently had covid...The way to sort it out is randomized trials, which this FDA has omitted. This FDA is run poorly. Needs reform" Vinay Prasad repeated this myth at the Food & Drug Administration, after having run zero randomized controls trials.
November 15th, 2024: In his most pathetic pledge of loyalty yet, Vinay Prasad writes: "Ashish Jha should remember that God gave people two arms...One to vote for Donald Trump, and the other one to give thumbs up to RFK Jr."
November 15th, 2024: Vinay Prasad publishes a Substack article titled "What a Trump presidency can mean for health care," in which he offers "nine productive suggestions." One of them includes telling the next CDC Director to encourage Americans not to wear masks of any kind, according to a long and overwhelmingly debunked Cochrane review, and that they "make you look like a crazy person."
January 1st, 2025: In defense of Trump's mass purges of the federal government, Vinay Prasad tweets out: "The president - any president - should be able to fire anyone in the executive branch. How else do citizens get to change these bureaucracies?" Well, one thing's for certain. American citizen Laura Loomer got her chance to change the bureaucracy of the FDA.
January 23rd, 2025: Sharing a Washington Post headline titled: "Federal workers fear job cuts, in-office mandates under Trump orders," Vinay tweeted out: "The in-person work is a brilliant way to let people off." During Vinay Prasad's tenure at the FDA, he primarily worked from home in San Francisco, rarely showing up to the campus to fufill the duties of his three senior roles. Personally, I too would likely avoid showing my face at an office where I was professionally despised by everyone.
March 1st, 2025: In defense of Trump's slash-and-burn campaign against federal funding for medical and scientific research: "I agree humanities is more woke than med but med is hostile to [Republicans]...90+ docs sign petition to delay Pfizer vax so Trump losers 2020...schools were kept closed to screw Trump in 2020 (see AAP flip)...Trump's aim is correct imo"
Yes, Vinay Prasad repeatedly alleged that a billionaire rapist President was the victim of an elaborate conspiracy by scientists, doctors, and schoolteachers to rig the election against him in 2020 - and that Trump's own incompetent mismanagement, including only consulting with loudmouthed contrarians that told him all the good news about a virus killing countless Americans in rapid succession, didn't sour the average American voter. Prasad vocally cheered on Trump’s 2024 campaign of revenge and sought to aid him in the carnage.
Devoured by Daddy Donnie
Now? Vinay Prasad has become the alleged victim of a conspiracy in which Big Pharma contracted hitpieces to force his ousting from the Food & Drug Administration, as retribution for not fast-tracking approval of new gene therapies. Dr. David Gorski (a vocal critic of Prasad's) over at Science Based Medicine wrote a longform explanation of how Prasad's decisions, in this specific context, are somewhat reasonable. Of course, this contrasts with the Trump Administration's wider agenda to destroy federal regulatory authority in its entirety.
While disappointing to many, the real world isn't half as exciting as the endless overlapping conspiracy theories which make up The X-Files. Often times, the most direct answer is the correct one. Laura Loomer is an irrational crackpot, who once handcuffed herself to the front doors of the Twitter headquarters because they suspended her account. She is also alleged to have had an affair with Donald Trump, and there is a viral video where, as an Ashkenazi Jew, Loomer sang the superiority of the Aryan race. Laura is not a rational thinker.

The most extreme conspiracy theorists of the anti-vaccine movement, of which Vinay Prasad has not been afraid to lend credulity to, want all COVID-19 vaccines banned and "Nuremberg 2.0" show trials with public executions of doctors, scientists, and public health officials. Vinay Prasad often threw red meat to this audience for personal profit and to grow his social media following. Auditioning for the Trump Administration with public displays of loyalty, Prasad landed his senior role(s) at the FDA with the help of fellow traveler Marty Makary, who repeatedly insists that the COVID-19 vaccine has killed people, based upon highly unscientific anecdotes.
Failing to fufill the dreams of his bloodthirsty fanboys, they sought vengeance. Smelling blood in the water, Laura Loomer and others capitalized, foolishly alledging that Vinay Prasad was a socialist sleeper agent; and not a craven opportunist who will say or do anything to promote himself, much like his hero Donald Trump. In the end, Trump personally fired Vinay Prasad because much like Loomer, Donald is an irrational, paranoid crackpot.
Revisionist History in Action
Over at STAT News, Vinay Prasad's business partner, Adam Cifu of the anti-vaccine Substack Sensible Medicine, is singing the woes of Vinay Prasad, a tragic victim in all this chaos. This is revisionist history, and frankly, a form of censorship. Vinay Prasad profited from pledging his loyalty to Donald Trump, concocting elaborate conspiracy theories to defend Trump's willful mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This loyalty would be met with a personal firing by Donald Trump himself, after being targeted with a conspiracy theory that Prasad was a socialist sleeper agent.
Now, Prasad is being painted as the victim of a third conspiracy theory, claiming that Big Pharma facilitated the second conspiracy theory. Any deeper, and we're going to be looking at the plot to an Inception sequel. How much sillier do we need to get with this, people?
Vinay Prasad decided he would play Russian Roulette with a 30-round revolver, but with 29 chambers loaded. He failed to satiate the bloodlust of the social media conspiracy theorists he exploited for profit, fame, and power - and they ate him alive for it. To be publicly humiliated by the man he once pledged loyalty to - a man who most of the country believes is a rapist pedophile - is a fitting end to this saga and should mark the end of Vinay Prasad's professional career in medicine and science.
Let Vinay Prasad waste the rest of his days as a social media crackpot, screeching irrelevantly into the void of Substack, Youtube, and Twitter. It would be a suitable punishment for years of unprofessional misconduct. Most importantly, let nobody fool you into thinking Vinay is some sort of "victim." He's a grown-ass man who made his own damned choice to start juggling rattlesnakes.
You ain't need to have walked in alligator boots for a country mile to see how that tall tale was gonna end.
